utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content are read from the landing URL.
Switch the Campaigns report between campaign and medium, each compared with the previous period.
Tags decide the channel: utm_medium=email lands in Email, cpc in Paid search, social in Social.
Clicks with gclid or msclkid are counted as paid search even without UTM tags.
Only the query parameters you allow are kept on page URLs; everything else is dropped.

UTM values are kept as campaign data. Other query parameters, which often contain tokens or personal data, are stripped unless you allow them.
utm_source is the most important. Adding utm_medium and utm_campaign gives you the medium and campaign reports.
Treat them as case-sensitive: "Newsletter" and "newsletter" can be reported separately, so pick one style and stick to it.
Some assistants add their own tag, such as utm_source=chatgpt.com, which we use to place the visit in the AI channel.
