Bot, AI crawler or a person?

Paste a user-agent string from your logs to see what kind of visitor it claims to be: a browser, a search engine crawler, an AI crawler or another bot.

Look up your own browser's user agent

01 Questions

User agents, briefly

What is a user agent?

A short text every browser and bot sends with each request, naming the software that made it. Servers write it to their access logs.

Can a user agent be faked?

Yes, easily. A user agent is what the visitor claims to be. To confirm that a "Googlebot" or "GPTBot" is genuine, check its IP address with the crawler IP verifier.

Does your analytics count bots?

No. Search engine crawlers, AI crawlers, headless browsers and scripts are filtered out of visitor numbers using the same detection this tool uses. AI crawlers can be measured separately from your server logs.
