About this checker
How does the analytics checker work?
It downloads the page you enter, the way a browser receives it before running any scripts, and looks for the script addresses and code snippets each tool uses. It also reads up to 4 of the site's own script files and any Google Tag Manager container the page loads, and lists the cookies the server sets in its response.
Why is a tool I know about not listed?
Tools added in the browser by other means, for example by a tag manager other than Google Tag Manager, or only after a visitor accepts cookies, may not appear in any file the checker reads. Tools found only in a site's own scripts are marked, because a script can mention a tool without using it.
The site blocks the checker. What can I do?
Some sites refuse automated requests. Open the site in your browser, press Ctrl+U (Cmd+Option+U on a Mac) to view its source, copy everything and paste it into the box under the result. The same check then runs on what you pasted. We do not try to get around a site's protection.
Is it legal to check another website?
Yes. The checker only reads the public page that any visitor receives. It does not log in, submit forms or look at anything private.
Do you store the websites I check?
No. The result is shown once and not saved. To prevent abuse, the number of checks per visitor is limited for a few minutes.
